Stomach Pains After Eating

Nobody can survive without food. Though food is essential for nourishment and energy, sometimes we experience stomach pain after eating. There are many possible reasons for such pain. Overeating is one such reason. When we eat not just to satisfy our hunger but to satiate our food cravings we are more likely to overeat.
This common problem is usually accompanied by abdominal pain and stomach spasmsSome minor conditions can also directly result in pain in the stomach. Serious problems could also be the cause of similar pain. Stomach cancer and chronic mesenteric insufficiency are such serious conditions. These are conditions that require urgent medical attention.
Other causes of stomach pain
Food Poisoning
Food poisoning is a frequently reported cause of stomach pain. It is usually accompanied by a sharp pain in the abdominal area after consuming a meal. Food poisoning is caused by pathogens such as bacteria.
Food Intolerance
One of the top causes of pain in the stomach is food intolerance. Food intolerance is normally precipitated by various allergic reactions to certain types of food. A common reaction of this sort is lactose intolerance. Lactose intolerance is a condition where an individual experiences stomach bloating and stomach pain after consuming dairy products.
Appendicitis
Appendicitis' main symptom is a sharp pain on the right side of the abdomen. Other symptoms that may indicate this condition include nausea, mild fever and vomiting. If you suspect you have appendicitis it is imperative that you seek urgent medical attention.
Gall stones
Stomach pain can also arise due to the presence of gall stones. If you experience pain in the right side of the abdomen, then you probably have the stones. The pain normally spreads systemically to the chest, upper right back and right shoulder.
Pancreatitis
This condition is marked by severe stomach pain in the stomach which comes instantly after taking a hefty meal. The pain may also appear after about 6 to 12 hours after eating your hefty meal. The pain occurs originally around the upper abdominal area and extends progressively to the side and back area. Other symptoms that can be experienced include nausea, fever and a heartbeat that is on acceleration
Pancreatitis can be identified by instant severe abdominal pain after taking a heavy meal. The pain can also come six to twelve hours after having a heavy meal. The pain usually begins around the upper abdomen and later progresses to the sides and back. Fever, nausea and a racing heart beat may also be felt.
Intestinal obstruction: One symptom of this condition is moderate pain in the tummy after meals. This could be accompanied by some vomit that reeks of stools. Additional symptoms include passing watery stools or none completely.
Diverticulitis is characterized by tenderness on your lower left abdomen. This is coupled by severe stomach cramps. This condition can be particularly agonizing after taking meals.
Heartburn: This is one of the common causes of stomach ache after meals. Fast heartburn relief can be received from taking antacid tablets. Taking milk may also provide some relief from heartburn.
Constipation frequently manifests itself as bloating and stomach pain especially after meals. This is usually followed by experiencing three or less bowel movements in a week. The stool passed is usually hard. Consumption of food that contains insufficient dietary fiber is a main cause of constipation. Minimal water intake during the day also exposes you to this condition.
Irritable bowel syndrome is accompanied by a feeling of exhaustion after taking a meal. Sometimes lower abdominal pain will be experienced. This can be accompanied by a bloated feeling.
Stomach ache in the tummy after eating can be as a direct result of taking in a lot of fluids of any type immediately after your meal. Taking soft drinks, fresh fruits juices, water and other drinks right after meals, dilutes the digestive stomach acids. The right concentration of stomach acids is healthy for your digestive system. Stomach acids aid in the elimination of fungi and harmful bacteria present in food.
The dilution of stomach acids reduces your stomachs' digestive capacity. Food fails to get broken down and digestion gets complicated. Your stomach attempts to eject the food as a result of surviving bacteria. This leads to stomach upsets. Diarrhea can also accompany the stomach pains

5 Ways To Relieve Back Pain At Home

Expert Author Joanna Ng
To learn how to relieve low back pain at home, it is important to know what you can do and cannot do with your body. Back pain can be caused by a number of ways including prolonged sitting or standing, ill-fitting shoes, and poor walking posture. The key here is not to over extend your body so every tip must be accomplished with deliberate consideration.
Keep reasonably active
One of the simplest and easiest back pain remedies at home is to keep moving. The last thing that you would want to do is hit the sack. Bed rest may only serve to aggravate the condition as laying on bed puts more stress on your already bad back. What you should do is limber up and move about as these warm and strengthen the sore muscles. Walk around the house, do chores, just make sure not to do heavy lifting, bend too far or make any sudden movement.
Learn Pilates
If you want to learn how to relieve low back pain, learn Pilates. Pilates helps to relieve your discomfort and may even prevent a recurrence as it strengthens the core muscles that support the back. Based on the principle that the body should be structurally balanced to function at the optimum level, the gentle stretching exercises and posture enhancing movements of Pilates align the body parts so that balance is achieved.
Self massage
Self massage is one of the recommended back pain remedies at home. This home relief suggestion is easier than you think, and requires only tennis balls and a thin mattress. Lay your back on the mattress, with knees bent and feet flat on the ground slip a tennis ball under your back then hold it there for a few seconds. Move the ball to a new area then hold again. If you want a more "thorough" massage, put two tennis balls inside a sock or stockings, and follow the same instructions as above.
Seat Therapy
You can do this simple treatment at home. You need a chair with back rest and a small rubber ball. Sit on the chair with your spine lengthen, and back straight and knees together with feet flat on the floor. Sit on rubber ball on your tailbone and row left to right. In this position, you are forced to sit up straight and lengthen your spine, stretching your back. Remove the ball after 5 minutes and rest.
Sit back and relax
Some conditions are merely symptoms of stress. This method in fact is the easiest to do. In fact, you are literally asked to do nothing. So for a day or two, disconnect the phones, stay offline, grab a book and play soothing music. You will feel better once your stress level goes down.
These 5 simple ways to relieve back pain at home are only for minor conditions. Most cases such nature go away after a few days. But if the discomfort is severe and lasts indefinitely, it is best that you consult a specialist and perform some back pain relief exercises.

Back Pain While Studying

Many young people suffer back pain while studying. Back pain can reduce your ability to study as well as your quality of life. Whether you're reading a book, researching on the internet, typing on the computer or writing by hand, there are steps you can take to avoid back pain.
Computer Work
Computer station ergonomics are important for anyone who spends prolonged periods of time in front of a computer. Most students rely on computers both for research and writing. The following are OSHA's criteria for an ergonomic computer space:
Screen at or just below eye level
Neck in line with torso and head centered
Shoulders relaxed
Elbows close to body and supported on arm rests
Wrists and hands aligned with forearms
Adequate space allowed for keyboard and mouse
Lumbar support
Feet flat on the floor
These guidelines facilitate proper posture and, when met, reduce the neck, shoulder and back strain many people who use computers throughout the day experience. Adjustable chairs, desks and computer screen angles make these configurations possible. If you can't afford to purchase new workplace furniture, be creative. A rolled-up towel can serve as a lumbar support and your monitor or laptop screen can be propped up using books.
Reading
Maintaining proper posture while reading can be quite difficult. When sitting in a chair at a desk, we typically lay the book down on the desk or rest the bottom of the book on the desk and support it at a slight angle with our hands. Both of these book positions force your neck to crane forward and your head to drop. With the weight of the head away from the body's center line and the neck's rounded position pulling on muscles, a double strain is placed on the muscles of the neck and shoulders. Shoulders are generally stooped in this position, and, since the upper body is trying to get closer to the desk top to read the book, the lower back tends to round out, losing its natural arch. Muscles from the neck down to the hips are strained by this postural distortion. Over time, spinal discs can degenerate due to the vertebral angle changes associated with poor posture.
Encouraging proper posture while reading starts with the position of the book; this determines, in part, the position of your head, neck and so on down. The ideal position for your book is mostly upright, leaning slightly back to allow your eyes easier access to the text. Book stands are available on the market that keep books in this position for you, freeing your hands and arms. Stands may be simple or complex, ranging from $5 into the hundreds. You can also fashion a makeshift stand. Place the stand at a distance from you that allows your head to be upright and facing straight forward.
Writing
Although keyboards reign much of our writing activities, the pen is still used by many. Most repetitive injuries acquired from handwriting occur to the hand, wrist and shoulder, but the neck and back can also be affected by the posture assumed while writing. As with reading a book that is placed flat on a desk, writing on a piece of paper laying horizontally causes the neck to bend and the head to jut out, altering the position of the spine and back muscles all the way down.
The UCLA Ergonomics department recommends placing your writing pad on a slight incline of 15-25 degrees to encourage an upright position. Use a 3" binder with the bound end pointing away from you for an inexpensive slope.
Additional Tips
Whatever your study activity, it is important to take breaks and move around. The human body is designed to be active; your muscles rely on a contraction/relaxation cycle to pump waste products out and fresh blood in with its nutrients and oxygen. Try to take a two-minute break every 30-45 minutes.
The UCLA Ergonomics department recommends the following stretches to refresh the whole body:
Check your posture frequently when on the computer, reading or writing. Are your muscles relaxed? Is your head centered over our torso? Are your shoulders low and loose? Is your spine elongated? Answering these questions will help you prevent painful muscle strain.
Ergonomics and body awareness will help you prevent back pain while studying. With a little creativity and knowledge, you can transform your study spot into a body-friendly space.
